What is Profhilo

How many treatments do i need

For best results with Profhilo, 2 treatments, one month apart, are strongly recommended. Optimal results are seen 4-6 week after the 2nd treatment and last around 6 months. Further sessions are advised every 6 months thereafter to maintain the results.

How does Profhilo work

Profhilo is made of pure hyaluronic acid. Once injected, it remains in the skin for around 28 days. During this time, it binds water and stimulates production of new collagen and elastin, which are essential components of your skin. Profhilo also increases your body’s own production of hyaluronic acid. The overall effect is skin tightening and lifting, giving a more youthful appearance.

What are the side effects / risks

Swelling and redness are common but temporary, subsiding soon after your procedure. Infection, bruising and asymmetry are other risks. Note: you cannot have Profhilo if you are pregnant, breast feeding or have severe allergies.

What aftercare is needed

Most people can continue as normal. Some experience mild redness and bruising. You may see small ‘lumps’ where Profhilo is injected, but these typically settle within a few hours. Any lumps you feel will also resolve, there is no need to massage the area. Make-up should not be worn for 12h. Alcohol and vigorous exercise should be avoided for 48h. Avoid sun bathing, and extremes or heat or cold for 14 days. Any bruising may take a few days to appear – arnica can help clear this. Avoid aspirin for 24h after treatment.
